GALLERY 1 - Hereke Carpets
These carpets are made in both wool and silk and are the finest examples of weaving in Turkey given their pattern intricacies and the density of knots. Silk carpets have over one million knots per square meter and wool carpets have 360,000 to 400,000 knots per square meter. Due to the density of the knots, the pattern shows as fine on the underside of the carpet as on the top.

The majority of these carpets are woven in an area close to Istanbul in northwest Turkey. Because of the superb quality of these carpets, the Ottoman sultans used them exclusively for their palace and gave them as gifts to European statesmen.

HEREKE carpets represent a culture in which the love of nature has a special significance.

These are representative HEREKE carpets that may still be in stock and may be purchased (see order details), or we have similar rugs that can be pulled. This gallery helps you to identify the 'look' that you are seeking, so tell us what you like. We have a broad selection of colors and sizes! Please contact us with your specific requirements.
